Ghana Introduces Digital Land Registry to Boost Real Estate Transparency

Ghana’s Lands Commission has launched a nationwide digital land registry platform, aimed at improving the efficiency and transparency of land transactions.

Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia said the reform would significantly reduce land disputes and unlock investment in the housing and construction sectors.

“The digital land registry ensures secure, accessible, and verifiable land records, empowering individuals and businesses to confidently engage in property deals,” Bawumia stated.

The system features blockchain integration, online verification tools, and geospatial data services. It will also streamline land title acquisition, cutting processing time from months to days.

The initiative is part of the government’s broader digital transformation strategy and supported by the World Bank and other institutional partners.
